Neighborhood Guide

Each of the neighborhoods profiled on the following pages offers a unique mix of factors such as convenience, accessibility, amenities, and housing options. Neighborhoods were chosen for inclusion based on their proximity to GW, accessibility by public transportation, and affordability. They are also, not surprisingly, some of the neighborhoods most often chosen by GW Law students. This list is by no means exhaustive, and you may wish to look for housing in other parts of the District and northern Virginia or in suburban Maryland.

Getting Oriented

Safety

Like any major city, D.C. has its share of crime. In looking for housing, you should keep in mind that certain areas are safer than others. Up-to-date crime statistics are available from the Metropolitan Police Department
