The GW Law Alumni Office is committed to helping students and alumni connect. These connections have the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of our students, while giving alumni the opportunity to give back and reconnect with GW Law today. Please review our student and alumni connections below:
Alumni Mentoring Program
Alumni can advise students in their professional development. Students and alumni are matched in Spring of the 1L year for mentoring during the 2L and 3L years. For inquiries and more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Each year the Law Alumni Office offers various opportunities for students to meet alumni in-person at our events. These include to following annual events, in addition to events planned each year with student groups:
Fall Semester: Various events during annual Alumni Week; Coffee with Experience speed-networking, Golf Outing
Spring Semester: Law Revue reception; Belva Lockwood Luncheon, Class Gift celebration; Commencement
Summer Semester: Summer Networking Breakfasts
Please email email@example.com to register for an upcoming event, including your name, expected graduation year, and the event of interest in the email.
SBA and Student Groups
The Alumni Office works closely with the Student Bar Association (SBA) and all student organizations at GW Law to identify ways that students can benefit from connecting with alumni. For example, recently the Alumni Office hosted events with the Evening Law Student Association, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, the Law Review, and supported an SBA Alumni Softball event.
If you were involved as a student and would like to reconnect with that group as an alumnus, please email to firstname.lastname@example.org to explore possible opportunities.
Each of our alumni affinity groups work closely with their student counterparts to host panels, receptions, conference events and more each year. Most of the alumni groups invite a student liaison to sit on their board meetings during the year. To learn more, contact the student representative for the respective group or the Alumni office (below).
We also invite students to attend major events with practice areas of interest. Students studying IP are invited to attend the annual GW Law Alumni reception at the AIPLA Convention in DC each Fall semester. Students studying Government Contracts are invited to attend the annual GW Law Luncheon at the Government Contracts Year in Review in DC each Spring semester.
Email Alumni@law.gwu.edu with your name and affinity group of interest.
Can’t attend an event in-person? No problem! Students may use online resources to connect with our alumni all over the world. 2L, 3L and LLM students are invited to connect with alumni in our Alumni Community, including accessing a Directory of all alumni searchable by practice area, region, graduation year, and more. LinkedIn is another great resource. The GW Law Alumni Association group includes over 5,000 members, and you can also find GW Law groups for many regions and practice areas. One group that may be especially helpful is our GW Law Student-Alumni Networking Group.
