GW-Oxford Summer Program
About the Program
2010 Program Dates: July 11-August 7, 2010
Who Should Attend
The program welcomes law students, graduate students, lawyers, legal practitioners, staff of international and non-governmental organizations, researchers and other human rights professionals with a demonstrated interest in the field. Applicants should bear in mind that this is an intensive program of university-level study, and should be confident that they are academically and linguistically prepared for such a program. The program is conducted in English, and participants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate English reading and writing ability by submitting proof of a TOEFL score of 600.
In the 2009 Summer Session there was a total of 86 students: 40 from The George Washington University Law School; 16 students from 14 U.S. schools and institutions; and 30 students from 14 countries (Australia-7, Brazil-2, Canada-2, Denmark-2, Germany-1, India-1, Indonesia-1, Iran-1, Japan-2, Mexico-1, South Korea-1, Spain-2, United Kingdom-6). We anticipate these same countries and perhaps more to be represented in the Summer 2010. Anticipated enrollment for the Summer Session 2010 is about 80 participants.

New College, Oxford
Students will be accommodated and take all of their meals at New College, Oxford on Holywell Street. Founded by William of Wykham in 1379, it is one of the largest, best known and most beautiful of the Oxford colleges. The college is located in the centre of Oxford, close to the St Cross Law Faculty Building, where classes are held and in which the Bodleian Law Library is located. The classrooms include a lecture hall for plenary sessions and breakout rooms for classes. The Administrative offices, which house the Oxford director and supporting staff, are in Rewley House, Wellington Square, Oxford.
Students are accommodated in single study bedrooms at New College. Many of the bedrooms have private bathrooms but such a room can only be guaranteed if the supplementary private bathroom fee is paid.
