The Master of Laws (LL.M.) is an advanced degree program for graduates of U.S. and foreign law schools who wish to pursue an academic career or to enhance their knowledge for practice in a specialized area. The graduate programs at GW draw strength from the J.D. program. Most courses in the Law School's extensive curriculum are open to graduate students, and upper-level J.D. and LL.M. students take courses together. Graduate students are able to combine traditionally taught courses with in-depth seminars, internships, skills training, and clinical experience for a comprehensive approach to legal education. Full-time faculty members in each specialized field provide instruction, academic advising, and thesis supervision. In addition, many specialized courses are taught by expert practitioners, government officials, and judges who teach on an adjunct basis.
