Associate Dean for Professional Development and Career Strategy
As Associate Dean for Professional Development and Career Strategy, Abe Pollack heads the Career Office at GW Law. Prior to joining GW Law, Dean Pollack was Director of Employer Outreach at Georgetown University Law Center. At Georgetown, he developed a number of innovative initiatives on career strategies for students and alumni. Dean Pollack previously served as a managing director at Major, Lindsey, and Africa, the largest legal recruiting company in the world. While there, he counseled hundreds of attorneys on career development issues and fostered relationships with general counsels, managing partners, and recruiting managers. He also practiced law at two large law firms in DC, where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions and securities law. Dean Pollack is a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law and Franklin & Marshall College.
Ethel Hong Badawi
Ethel Hong Badawi is an Associate Director in the Career Center. Before attending law school, Ethel worked as an international recruiter and staffed international development projects in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. Immediately after law school, she clerked at the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. Ethel was an associate for several years at a large national law firm where her primary practice areas included insolvency, commercial bankruptcy, refinance and restructuring. She was also an active member of the firm's recruiting and hiring committee. Ethel received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College, and earned her JD from The George Washington University Law School
Associate DirectorPublic Interest Advisor
Tamara Dévieux-Adams is the Public Interest Advisor and joined the office in November 2006. Tamara focuses on counseling students and alumni who want to pursue public interest internships and post-graduate job opportunities. Before joining the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy, Tamara worked for the District of Columbia’s Office of Youth Rehabilitation Services, where she presided over administrative hearings for incarcerated juvenile offenders and served as acting chief of staff. Prior to that, she was an assistant general counsel with the Massachusetts Office of Early Education and Care, the agency tasked with enforcing child care licensing regulations and administering subsidies for the care of low-income children. She also was a litigation associate in the Boston, MA office of an international law firm. Tamara is a graduate of Harvard College and Boston College Law School.
Director of Judicial Clerkships
John Jay Inn Advisor, Public Interest Advisor
Sheila Driscoll is the Director of Judicial Clerkships and the Career Advisor for the John Jay Inn. As the Director of Judicial Clerkships, Sheila counsels law students and alumni as they navigate through the clerkship application and hiring process. In her role as a career counselor since 2002, Sheila has advised hundreds of students on a broad range of legal careers. Before joining GW Law, Sheila was a recruiter for a legal placement firm and a litigation associate for a large law firm in Boston, MA. Sheila clerked for two years for the Honorable Thomas K. Moore, a federal judge for the District of the Virgin Islands on the island of St. Thomas. Sheila is a 1995 cum laude graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and a 1992 graduate of Stanford University. Sheila is an active member of NALP, the Association for Legal Career Professionals, and has presented several programs on clerkships and other topics at the annual education conference. She is past Chair of NALP’s Judicial Clerkship Section and past Vice President and current Board Member of the Washington Area Legal Recruitment Administrators Association (WALRAA).
Director of Professional Development
Susan Fine is the Director of Professional Development and counsels students in the Career Center. She is also Co-Director of the Inns of Court program, a law school-wide initiative to foster a happier law school experience, to equip students to find a job that is meaningful to them and to prepare them more effectively for practice. Earlier in her career, following a federal clerkship, Susan practiced as an attorney in the Office of Legal Counsel at the United States Department of Justice. She also worked on Capitol Hill, as a summer associate in two large law firms, and as an intern for a public interest law firm. In addition, Susan has non-legal experience in retained executive search for non-profit organizations. Susan holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts in History and English, and Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan.
Assistant Director & Head of Legal Recruiting
Kim Hicks manages GW Law’s large and small recruiting programs and assists employers and students with all of their recruiting needs. Before joining GW Law, Kim worked as a litigation associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in New York, where she represented clients in white collar litigation matters and advised clients regarding internal investigations and regulatory compliance programs. Kim was a member of the firm's Recruiting, Summer Associate, and Associates Committees. Prior to her work as an associate, Kim participated in the Morgan Lewis Public Interest Fellowship Program, during which she served as a Special Assistant District Attorney for the Kings County District Attorney's Office in Brooklyn, New York. Kim is a 2009 graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and a 2006 graduate of Boston University.
Assistant Director, Diversity and Inclusion Liaison
Kristen Meeks is the Diversity Liaison and the Career Advisor for the Benjamin Cardozo Inn. She advises students on diversity issues related to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and disability as they involve career and employment matters. She also works closely with the leadership and members of the Black, Asian/Pacific American, Hispanic, Muslim, and Women Law Student Associations at GW Law and associated affinity bar associations and professional groups outside the law school. She acts as the liaison between the Career Office and a variety of legal employers, including small, medium and Am Law 100 law firms, government agencies, and non-profit organizations, that are interested in recruiting diverse law students. Kristen received her B.A. from Spelman College and her JD from the University of North Carolina. After law school, she clerked for the Honorable Zoe Bush of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, before practicing as an Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia.
Alumni Career Development
Keri McCoy is the Director of Alumni Career Development. Keri joined the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy in 2006. Keri works with alumni to identify short and long-term career goals and assists them in developing individualized career plans. She advises on issues such as job searching, lateral transitions, salary negotiations, alternative careers, geographic and practice area transitions, partnership, networking and work-life balance. Keri is a strong proponent of mock interviews and conducts them regularly. Before joining the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy, Keri served as the Law School’s Senior Counselor for Student Development. In that position, she served as a liaison between the Law School and prospective students and managed the Presidential Merit Scholars Program. Prior to joining the Law School, Keri worked as an associate with law firms in the District of Columbia, New Jersey and Texas. Keri tried numerous cases before state and federal courts on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Keri received her Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Assistant Director of Employer Outreach
Megan McGrath develops and strengthens relationships with a variety of legal employers, and alumni, to provide employment opportunities for law students. Prior to joining GW Law, Megan worked as the Legal Recruitment Manager for the DC, Denver, and New York City offices of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. Before joining McKenna, Megan was the Legal Recruiting Coordinator in the DC Office of O'Melveny & Myers LLP. Megan serves on the Board of Directors for the Washington Area Legal Recruitment Administrators Association (WALRAA), and also participates in leadership roles with the Association for Legal Career Professionals (NALP). Megan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Elon University.
Assistant Director; LLM Advisor
Sarah McIlrath is an Assistant Director and LLM Advisor. Immediately after law school, Sarah worked as a Foreign Legal Adviser at a Japanese law firm in Tokyo focusing on international commercial law. Upon her return to the U.S., she started her career as a legal services attorney working with legal services organizations in Georgia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Sarah has also worked as a public policy specialist for a non-profit organization in Savannah. Sarah received her undergraduate degree from Agnes Scott College, and earned her JD from The University of Florida Levin College of Law.
Associate Director; Robert Jackson Inn Advisor
Julie McLaughlin is the Career Advisor for the Robert Jackson Inn and an Alumni Advisor. Julie works with students and alumni to identity goals and develop individualized career plans. Prior to joining the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy, Julie was a regulatory associate at a large international law firm in Washington, DC where her practice focused on food and agriculture law and consumer protection. Following law school, she clerked for the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia. Julie is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Virginia School of Law.
Manager of Programming
Kevin Motsinger originally joined the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy in 2002 as Office Manager. In 2003 he assumed the job of Judicial Clerkship Program Coordinator. He moved on to become Operations Manager for the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) and a recruiter for the Washington, DC and Los Angeles offices of one of the nation’s largest law firms. He returned to GW’s Career Development Office in 2008. As Manager of Programming, Kevin oversees nearly one hundred student career programs a year.
Assistant Director; Louis Brandeis Inn Advisor
Sabrina Nelson is an Assistant Director in the Career Center and is the career advisor for the Louis Brandeis Inn. She joins the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy with fifteen years of experience practicing with the Washington D.C. office of Dickstein Shapiro LLP, where she litigated complex multidistrict antitrust cases and a variety of other commercial contract disputes. She has also worked as a placement director for two prominent legal search firms, where she was responsible for recruiting and counseling experienced attorneys and other legal professionals and placing them in law firms and corporate in-house law departments. Sabrina received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and her J.D. from Cornell Law School.
Assistant Director; Sandra Day O’Connor Inn Advisor
Jaya Saxena is the Career Advisor for the Sandra Day O’Connor Inn. Before joining the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy, she was a Career Counselor at the George Mason University School of Law. Prior to that, she worked at a national health care advocacy organization and as a legal services attorney at Maryland Legal Aid. She also clerked for the Honorable John M. Mott of the Superior Court of the District of the District of Columbia. Additionally, Jaya has held numerous leadership positions on the Board of Directors of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington, D.C. She received her undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and earned her JD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also has a Graduate Certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly Tai Sophia Institute).
Assistant Director; Thurgood Marshall Inn Advisor
Prior to joining GW Law’s Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy, Tiffany was the Director of Career Services at Cornell Law School. At Cornell Law School, Tiffany counseled current students and alumni in the development of unique job search strategies, initiated soft skills programming, and conducted employer outreach. Tiffany previously practiced at a large law firm in New York City, where her practice focused on Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits. She also served as a legal associate at a large corporation in New York City, where she assisted in-house counsel with various legal matters. Tiffany received her JD from Cornell Law School and her BS in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University.
Meridith Sharpe Jacobs
Associate Director; Alumni Advisor
Meridith Sharpe Jacobs is an Alumni Advisor in the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy. She works with alumni to identify professional goals, outline strategic plans, and conduct individualized job searches. Prior to transitioning to career advising, Meridith practiced family law for several years at a small boutique law firm in Washington, DC. She then served as the Assistant Director of the Office of Career and Professional Development at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. Meridith is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and The George Washington University Law School.
Director of Employer Outreach
Katie White joined the Professional Development and Career Strategy Office in November of 2010. In her role as Director of Employer Outreach, she meets with employers to build relationships that will result in increased opportunities for students and alumni. She is also available to meet with students to help them improve their networking skills. Before joining the career office, Katie was the Chief Attorney Recruiting Officer at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Prior to joining Akin Gump, she worked in attorney recruiting and professional development at Dickstein Shapiro LLP, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, Swidler Berlin Shereff Friedman, LLP, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and Covington & Burling LLP. She has prior law school career services experience as the Director of Career Services at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in Los Angeles, and as an Assistant Director at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota.

Judicial Clerkship Program Coordinator
Kevin McClease is the Judicial Clerkship Program Coordinator and is the executive coordinator of the Pathways to Practice program. He has been at GW Law since 2006. Prior to joining the Career Office, he worked at Penn Good & Associates, a small marketing and management consulting firm.
Liza G. Ramirez
Manager of Legal Recruiting
Liza Ramirez joined the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy in 1997 as the Office Manager. In April 2001, she became the Assistant Recruitment Manager. She assists in the planning and execution of all recruiting programs, creating and managing interview schedules, communicating with legal employers and law students, and resolving employer and student concerns related to recruiting events. She also reconciles the Fall Recruiting Program budget, processes accounts payable for all recruitment activities, and processes all temporary/wage account staff.
Erin Shillenn joined the GW Law Career Center this summer as the Office Manager. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary's in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts. Previously, Erin worked and interned at The Phillips Collection as a Museum Assistant and in event planing. She now oversees administrative operations in the Career Center and assists with the day to day tasks within the office.
