Animal Law Lawyering Project

Beginning in Spring 2010, students will have the opportunity to extern at local animal organizations and law firms working to protect animals world-wide.  Placements may include externship opportunities at Alley Cat Allies; American Humane Association; Animal Welfare Institute; Compassion Over Killing; and Meyer, Glitzenstein & Crystal.  These placements will allow students to gain practical experience in litigation, lobbying, policy, and general advocacy on behalf of animals in a variety of areas, including farm animals, stray and feral cats, wildlife, and the link between animal cruelty and human violence.  Students participating in the project will register for the co-requisite seminar Animal Rights and the Law (426) taught by Professor Joan Schaffner.
