Career Counseling

The counselors meet individually with hundreds of students and alumni each year to assist in all aspects of the career development and job search process. Counseling takes many forms and includes "basic tools" preparation (resumes, cover letters, application procedures, etc.), employment market insight (career options, interpreting organizational research, and job search strategy), and personal career counseling (self-assessment, skills recognition and development). Appointments are usually available within 24 hours and a designated walk-in counselor is available every day for ‘quick questions.’

To schedule an appointment, simply call the CDO Office Manager at 202.994.7340. Counselors are available to meet with students from 9:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. For evening students, appointments can be made during later evening hours with our evening student counselor. Each first-year section is assigned to a counselor, but students are free to meet with any counselor.

Specific counselors also specialize in public interest, diversity outreach, intellectual property, government,  professional development, international law careers, and judicial clerkships.
