Make Room for Equal Justice

The Fall Recruitment Program (FRP) brings national and local legal employers to GW Law and to regional locations for the purpose of interviewing second and third-year students (and in some cases, LL.M. students) for summer and permanent legal positions. The majority of employer participants are large law firms; other employers represented include government agencies, public interest and legal services offices, and district attorneys' offices.

In 2008, nearly 600 employers registered to participate in the Fall Recruitment Program, including on-campus interviews (OCI), resume collections, regional interview programs, and direct write job postings. More than 750 students submitted resumes for the on-campus interview (OCI) option, resulting in over 5,200 interviews.

Two more components to FRP are the resume collection and job posting (Direct Writes) options available to those employers who are unable to participate in on-campus or regional interviewing programs, but still want to receive resumes. More than 80 employers participated in the 2008 FRP Resume Collection, and more than 100 employers submitted job postings as part of FRP (FRP Direct Writes) and received student applications directly. With these two options, employers have the flexibility of contacting students directly on their own time, and either bringing students into their offices or arranging to visit the GW Law campus at the end of September or early October to conduct interviews. For questions, please contact Kathryn Parente at 202.994.7340.

Employer Information

The Career Development Office continues to expand the ways employers may recruit GW Law students, including job postings, resume collections, video conferencing, or on-campus interviewing (OCI). For a comprehensive guide to fall recruiting at GW Law, visit our FRP Employer Manual. Be sure to note important dates and deadlines indicated in each set of instructions. Please call 202.994.7340 for any immediate assistance that you may require.

Direct Writes

Firms that wish to receive 2L and 3L student applications directly for 2010 summer and permanent positions may post a job announcement on Symplicity as part of the Fall Recruitment Program. Log into Symplicity and click on the Jobs tab, then click on "Add New." Under position type, mark "FRP Direct Writes" to associate your posting with the Fall Recruitment Program.

Student Information

Rising 2Ls and 3Ls should pay close attention to FRP announcements received via email from the CDO, and to any announcements posted on the GW Law web Portal and/or the Announcements section in Symplicity. In April, the CDO will hold mandatory information sessions for current 1Ls (rising 2Ls) and current 2Ls (rising 3Ls) who did not participate in FRP the year before. These information sessions will provide an overview of how the FRP process works, what to expect during the summer months, important policies, dates, deadlines, and procedures. Below are links to important documents and websites that you will need throughout your FRP application process. For any questions, please call the CDO at 202.994.7340 or email Kathryn Parente, Recruitment Manager.
