Visiting Associate Professor Program
The George Washington University Law School invites applications for appointments in the Visiting Associate Professor Program. The Program seeks candidates who demonstrate promise as legal scholars and a strong interest in entering the legal academy. Visiting Associate Professors will be hired for two-year terms. During that time, they will teach classes at the Law School and focus on producing one or more works of scholarship in preparation for entry into the teaching market. The Law School anticipates hiring up to three Visiting Associate Professors for the 2014-16 term.
It is expected that Visiting Associate Professors will teach two courses each year. The Visiting Associate Professors will teach either doctrinal courses or Legal Research and Writing; specific teaching packages will be determined based on the candidates’ preferences after consultation with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development.
A substantial amount of the Visiting Associate Professors’ time will be available for work on scholarship. Each Visiting Associate Professor will be assigned one or more faculty mentors and will be invited to participate fully in the intellectual life of the school.
Salary will be approximately $50,000-$60,000 in each year of the Program. We will begin considering applications for the 2014-16 term on September 1, 2013. We will accept applications until February 15, 2014 or until the positions are filled.
Candidates must have a J.D. or comparable degree and a superior academic record.
