Mr. Toering is a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, in the firm's Northern Virginia office, practicing in the Intellectual Property Section. Mr. Toering counsels clients in patent matters with a focus on the strategic development and procurement of patent portfolios protecting electronic and software-related technology. His practice includes counseling clients regarding validity, infringement and potential avoidance of third party patent rights. In addition, he routinely provides advice in support of technology transactions and patent litigation.
His technical background includes electrical, computer, software and mechanical technologies, and more particularly, computer and microprocessor architectures, internet applications, electronic commerce, network security, cryptography, computer graphics, telecommunications, digital and analog communications, digital signal processing, control systems, and biomedical devices. He also has significant experience with cross-functional matters, particularly computer and/or software related inventions in the chemical and biotechnology arts, including bioinformatics.
