Biographical Sketch
Prior to joining the Law School administration in 1989, Dean Robinson
was in private practice and also served as a senior trial counsel and trial attorney for the Department of Justice, Civil Division, where she was in charge of litigation at the trial and appellate levels involving various commercial activities. At Justice, she received numerous awards for outstanding performance as well as the Attorney General Special Commendation for Outstanding Service in the Civil Division and the TARTAR Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance from the U.S. Navy Department. Her volunteer activities have included service as general counsel to the Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church and as Nurture Council member of the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the National Naval Association, and the American Bar Association. She was honored in 1999 by the establishment of the Alfreda B. Robinson fund in Trial Advocacy, and in 2000 by the establishment of the Alfreda Robinson Endowed Fund in Trial Advocacy and the Michael J. Avenatti Award for Excellence in Pre-Trial and Trial Advocacy in recognition of her excellence in teaching. Dean Robinson teaches pre-trial advocacy to J.D. and LL.M. students and her scholarship focuses on civil procedure, evidence, reparations, and religion.
