Biographical Sketch
Professor Ross focuses her research at the intersection of family law, children’s rights and constitutional law. She has written several books and numerous articles and book chapters on legal issues related to children and families. During 2008-09 she will be a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton N.J., where she will be writing a book on pluralism, parental values, and children’s rights in public schools.
Professor Ross joined the faculty of the George Washington University Law School in 1996 and has taught as a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania and Boston College. Immediately prior to entering law teaching, Professor Ross was a litigator at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York. Before attending law school, she served on the faculty of the Yale Child Study Center and the Bush Center on Child Development and Social Policy at Yale.
An elected Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Professor Ross is also active in the profession. A former chair of the American Bar Association’s Steering Committee on the Unmet Legal Needs of Children, she co-chairs the Committee on the Rights of Children of the ABA’s Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities. She has served on many ABA committees, including the committee that oversees law school accreditation. Professor Ross is former chair of the Section on Law and Communitarianism of the Association of American Law Schools. Professor Ross serves or has served on the editorial boards of the Family Courts Review and the Family Law Quarterly.
Professor Ross teaches Family Law, Child, Family and State, and Constitutional Law.
