Ayman Abdel Khaleq is a partner at Vinson & Elkins LLP (based in Dubai). His practice focuses on corporate and structured finance and debt capital markets transactions, with a particular emphasis on the structuring and documentation of Islamic finance and investment products (including Sukuk offerings backed by pools of global assets). In addition, he advises clients on the structuring and formation of innovative Shari'a-compliant real estate, infrastructure and private equity funds and investments.
Mr. Khaleq has been involved in numerous privatization and deregulation transactions across the Middle East and has been advising foreign investors on doing business in the MENA region for over 13 years. He is qualified to practice law in New York and Jordan and is fluent in Arabic and English.
Mr. Khaleq holds an LL.M (honors) from The George Washington University Law School, and an LL.B (highest honors) from the University of Jordan Faculty of Law. He has published a number of articles on Islamic finance and on doing business in the Middle East, and regularly speaks at international conferences and seminars dealing with the said topics. Mr. Khaleq is ranked among the world's best Islamic finance lawyers by leading publications such as Euromoney, Islamic Finance News and Chambers Global.
