Biographical Sketch
Before joining the Law School faculty full time to direct the Vaccine Injury Clinic in 1994, Professor Meyers was in private practice, focusing on complex criminal and appellate cases for more than 20 years. He argued many cases before appellate courts around the country, including a case before the U.S. Supreme Court that established important standing principles. Professor Meyers was director of the Law School’s Federal and Appellate Clinic in 1992-93. He has also taught an advanced seminar on drugs and the law with his colleague Eric Sirulnik since 1982. Professor Meyers has written articles on the constitutionality of drug testing and has written and edited several legal manuals for criminal defense attorneys. He has also coordinated and made presentations at numerous legal education seminars around the country. He served as director of the Center for the Study of Drug Policy and has provided pro bono assistance to many public interest groups. Professor Meyers has also served as chairman of the Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines Workgroup, of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and has been a designated reviewer for several publications issued by the National Academy of Sciences on vaccine-related issues.
