Biographical Sketch
Professor Steinberg has dedicated her career to advancing equal justice for low-income communities. Before joining the GW Law faculty in 2011, she served as the Jay M. Spears Fellow and Clinical Lecturer in Law in the Community Law Clinic at Stanford Law School, where she supervised students handling housing, employment, public benefits, and criminal records expungement cases and litigated housing policy matters.

Previously, Professor Steinberg was a deputy city attorney for the City of Salinas, Calif., where she litigated civil rights and liability claims on behalf of the city in state and federal court, and before that, an Equal Justice Works Fellow for the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County. Her scholarship focuses on access to justice with a focus on new models for court reform and the delivery of legal services to the poor. She has received the California State Bar Foundation's Public Interest Award in recognition of her achievements and commitment public service work, and is Chair of the American Association of Law Schools' Section on Poverty Law.
