Biographical Sketch
Michael Starr practices at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld LLP where he focuses on complex civil and white collar criminal litigation before state and federal courts as well as representation of corporations in internal and government investigations. Professor Starr has handled numerous jury and bench trials and has written and argued appeals. His civil practice has included Title VII matters, wrongful death matters and whistleblower actions. In his criminal practice, Professor Starr has defended individuals and corporations accused of bribery, healthcare fraud, accounting fraud and Securities Act violations. He has also represented grand jury and trial witnesses. Before entering private practice, Professor Starr was a trial and appellate attorney at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.
