Christian McMurray is an energy lawyer with Andrews Kurth LLP. His practice focuses on guiding market participants, project developers, and state regulators through the federal statutes and regulations governing the electric, natural gas, and oil industries. Recent matters include wholesale energy market enhancements such as the design and implementation of locational installed capacity markets, resource adequacy, ancillary services markets, generator retirements, demand response and extended locational marginal pricing. In 2013, Professor McMurray began teaching an introductory oil and gas law course examining the fundamental property, contract and regulatory elements pertaining to the leasing, developing, and financing requirements incidental to oil and gas production in the United States.
Professionally, Professor McMurray has twice served as co-chair of the Environmental Regulations Committee of the Energy Bar Association. He has served as a vice-chair for several committees at the ABA such as Energy and Environmental Markets and Finance; Renewable, Alternative, and Distributed Energy Resource; and Government and Private Sector Innovation Committees.
