After graduating from law school in 1990, Mr. Brands clerked for then-Judge Breyer (1990-91), Justice Souter (1991-92), and Justice Breyer (1994-95). In between and after clerkships, Mr. Brands has been in private practice, first in New York City and then in Washington, D.C. Focusing on litigation in the communications industry, Mr. Brands was a partner at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd & Evans (1999-2002) and at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison (2002-2011). He now has his own practice. From 1996 until 2007, Mr. Brands taught Telecommunications Law as an adjunct at the GW Law School.
