Biographical Sketch
Professor Colby joined the GW law faculty in 2003. He teaches constitutional law and civil procedure, and was chosen by a vote of the graduating class of 2006 as the recipient of the Law School’s Distinguished Faculty Service Award. His articles have been published in the Duke Law Journal (forthcoming), the University of Chicago Law Review (forthcoming), the Yale Law Journal, the Columbia Law Review, the Northwestern University Law Review, the Virginia Law Review, and the Minnesota Law Review. Following law school, where he served as supervising editor of the Harvard Law Review and was awarded the Sears Prize, Professor Colby clerked for Judge Guido Calabresi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Justice David H. Souter of the Supreme Court of the United States. He then spent several years practicing constitutional law in the Supreme Court and appellate practice group of Mayer Brown’s Washington, D.C., office, and served for two years as a Bigelow Fellow and lecturer in law at the University of Chicago Law School.
