Biographical Sketch
Sheldon S. Cohen teaches at the George Washington University School of Public Policy and Public Administration. Mr. Cohen, a former Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, has dedicated himself to the practice of tax law in the private and public sectors for over 5 years. Mr. Cohen frequently lectures at various tax institutions and universities across the country, and recently served as keynote speaker, at the request of the United Nations, at a conference on tax administration in developing countries. Active in civic organizations, Mr. Cohen is past chairman of the American Jewish Historical Socitey. He also is treasurer of the The Supreme Court Historical Society. Mr. Cohen was chairman of the Board of Trustees of George Washington University. He graduated with special honors from The George Washington University in 1950 and received his Juris Doctor with highest honors in 1952 from The George Washington University National Law Center. Mr. Cohen also is part-time director of the investment firm Farr Miller & Washington.
