Proxy Server Instructions

For off-campus access to Law Library resources, you must enable your browser for proxy service from the Law Library's computer system. Proxy users also must enable JavaScript and Java, and accept all cookies (these generally are default settings for browsers). Instructions for recent versions of Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer are below.

Mozilla Firefox 2 or 3
1. Click on Tools & select Options.
2. Click on the Advanced icon.
3. Click on the Network tab.
4. Under the “Connection” section, click Settings.
5. At the bottom, select the Automatic proxy configuration URL option.
6. In the box, type or paste the following in the Automatic proxy configuration URL: http://128.164.132.10:8080/proxy.pac
7. Click Reload and OK to close the “Connection Settings” dialog box.
8. Click OK to close the “Options” dialog box.
- (For Mozilla Firefox 2)
To turn off the proxy setting:
Follow steps 1-4 from above.
For step 5, click on Direction Connection to the Internet.
Click OK, then OK again to close the dialog boxes.
- (For Mozilla Firefox 3)
To turn off the proxy setting:
Follow steps 1-4 from above.
In step 5, click on No Proxy.
Click OK, then OK again to close the dialog boxes.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or 7
- For DSL /Cable/LAN Connection
1. Click on Tools & select Internet Options.
2. Click on the Connections tab.
3. Under “Local Area Network (LAN) settings”, click LAN settings.
4. Check the box: Use automatic configuration script.
5. In the Address box, type or paste: http://128.164.132.10:8080/proxy.pac
7. Click OK to save the new settings.
8. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
To turn off the proxy setting:
Follow steps 1-3 from above.
In step 4, click to uncheck the Use automatic configuration script box.
Click OK to save your settings.
Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
- For Dial-up Connection
1. Click on Tools & select Internet Options.
2. Click on the Connections tab.
3. Under “Dial-up settings” box, highlight the name of your dial-up service.
4. Click the Settings.
5. Under “Automatic configuration”, check the boxes: Automatically detect settings & Use Automatic configuration script.
6. In the Address box, type or paste: http://128.164.132.10:8080/proxy.pac
7. Click OK to save the new settings.
8. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
To turn off the proxy setting:
Follow steps 1-4 from above.
For step 5, uncheck the Automatically detect settings box.
For step 6, uncheck Use automatic configuration script box.
Click OK to save your settings.
Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
