Tawresey and Harris Win 2012 Giles Sutherland Rich Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Competition Finals

January 24, 2012 -- GW Law congratulates Gwendolyn Tawresey and Philip Harris on their victory in this year's Giles Sutherland Rich Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Competition Finals.

They triumphed in a close decision, as announced by Judge Barbara Lynn, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas, Chief Judge Randall R. Rader (J.D. '78), U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and John M. Whealan, Associate Dean for Intellectual Property Law Studies.

Gwen also won Best Overall Competitor, and her opponent, Anna Smith, won Best Oral Advocate (awards are based upon scores from the preliminary rounds of competition).  All four finalists, Phil, Gwen, Anna, and her partner, Taylor King, will go on to represent GW at the Regional Competition in Silicon Valley, California.

The Law School thanks Judge Lynn for joining us all the way from Texas, Chief Judge Rader and Dean Whealan for their continuing support and insight, and Steve Lieberman on behalf of our generous sponsor, Rothwell Figg, as well as Frank Rothwell himself.  Though he has passed away, his legacy lives on in the success of this competition.
