Charles E. Di Leva is the World Bank’s Chief Officer, Environmental and Social Standards. He joined the Bank in 1992 and for twelve years served as Chief Counsel, Environmental and International Law in which he advised the Bank on the Climate and Biodiversity Agreements and as lead lawyer on its new Environmental and Social Framework for Investment Project Finance. Other posts include as trial attorney in the Environment Division (ENRD) US Department of Justice; as Director, IUCN Environmental Law Center (Bonn); and as Senior Officer, United Nations Environment Program Law Unit (Nairobi).
