Associate Dean for Professional Development and Career Strategy
Susan Fine heads the Career Center at GW Law. She is also the Co-Director of the Inns of Court and Foundations of Practice Programs. These school-wide initiatives are designed to provide students with a diverse support structure, build professional skills, and to enhance career outcomes. Dean Fine is a frequent speaker on law student professional development topics at NALP and the Professional Development Institute. She served two terms as chair of the NALP Law Student Professional Development Section and two terms as a board member for the ABA’s Legal Career Central. She is also a member of the Professional Development Consortium. Earlier in her career, following a federal clerkship, Dean Fine worked as an attorney in the Office of Legal Counsel at the United States Department of Justice. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School.

Program Associate for Professional Development
Sierra joined the Career Center in August 2018 to help execute the Inns of Court and Foundations of Practice programs. As a graduate of GW Law and an alumnus of the O’Connor Inn of Court, Sierra is committed to ensuring that students continue to receive the high-quality and critical professional development training these unique and valuable programs offer. Prior to accepting the Program Associate position, Sierra worked in banking and finance policy in the United States Senate, and at a lobbying firm dedicated to increasing foreign language education access. She received her law degree in 2018 from the George Washington University Law School and her B.A. in moral philosophy from Pacific University in Oregon.

Megan McGrath Corsetti
Associate Director of Employer Outreach
Megan McGrath Corsetti is the Associate Director of Employer Outreach in the Center for Professional Development & Career Strategy. Megan develops and strengthens relationships with a variety of legal employers, and alumni, to provide employment opportunities for law students. Megan’s counseling areas of expertise include large firm employment, consulting careers, financial sector careers, Hill opportunities and careers in government contracts. Prior to joining GW, Megan worked as the Legal Recruitment Manager for the DC, Denver and New York City offices of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (“MLA”). Before joining MLA, Megan was the Legal Recruiting Coordinator in the DC Office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP. Megan previously served as the Vice Chair for the NALP 2015 Annual Conference Planning Committee, and in prior years, served on the Board of Directors for the Washington Area Legal Recruitment Administrators Association (WALRAA). Megan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Elon University, and an MBA in entrepreneurship and marketing from the George Washington University School of Business.
Associate Director; Robert Jackson Inn Advisor
Julie McLaughlin is an Associate Director and the Career Advisor for the Robert Jackson Inn and an advisor on federal clerkships. Julie works with students to identify goals and develop individualized career plans. Prior to joining the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy, Julie was a regulatory associate at a large international law firm in Washington, DC where her practice focused on food and agriculture law and consumer protection. Following law school, she clerked for the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia. Julie is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Virginia School of Law.
Mikaela McRae is the Data Analyst at the GW Law Career Center. In this role, she oversees the collection, analysis, and reporting of data pertaining to students’ internship placements, post-graduate career outcomes, and bar passage results. Trends and insights derived from this data will inform the Career Center’s strategy to provide tailored resources to students throughout their professional development and job search processes. Mikaela also maintains the Career Center’s technology platforms, online resources, and communication strategy. Previously, Mikaela organized GW Law’s recruitment programs and career-related events. Prior to joining GW Law, Mikaela managed employer relations and recruiting programs at the Babson College Undergraduate Center for Career Development. She received her BS in Business Management from Babson College and her MBA from Babson’s F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business.
Senior Law Career Counselor; Sandra Day O’Connor Inn Advisor
Matt Orlins is a Senior Law Career Counselor and the Career Advisor for the Sandra Day O’Connor Inn. He joined the GW Law Career Center after more than ten years of experience in government. Most recently, Matt served as the Director of Legislative and Public Affairs for the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. In that role, he managed the agency’s legislative initiatives and media relations. Previously, Matt was Senior Legislative Counsel to the DC Council’s Committee on Transportation and the Environment. He holds a B.A. from Denison University and a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School. Prior to attending law school, Matt worked as a teacher in the Atlanta Public Schools as a part of Teach for America.
Liza G. Ramirez
Manager of Legal Recruiting
Liza Ramirez joined the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy in 1997 as the Office Manager. In April 2001, she became the Assistant Recruitment Manager. Liza assists in the planning and execution of all recruiting programs, creating and managing interview schedules, communicating with legal employers and law students, and resolving employer and student concerns related to recruiting events. She also reconciles the Fall Recruiting Program budget, processes accounts payable for all recruitment activities, and handles all procedures related to temporary/wage account staff.

Senior Law Career Counselor; Thurgood Marshall Inn Advisor
Kara Wenzel is a Senior Law Career Counselor and is the career advisor for the Thurgood Marshall Inn. Prior to joining the Office of Professional Development and Career Strategy, she acted as General Counsel for a small federal government agency. Kara has practiced administrative, environmental, and energy law at three federal agencies and in the private sector in DC, focusing on the Clean Air Act and nuclear power licensing. She also serves as a DC Circles Leader for the Lean In organization, which helps women advance their careers. Kara is a graduate of the University of Michigan, the London School of Economics, and George Mason University School of Law. Kara also obtained a coaching certification from the NeuroLeadership Institute in New York City, and she incorporates neuroscience-based techniques to coach law students and lawyers on their career strategies.
Director of Employer Outreach
Katie White joined the Professional Development and Career Strategy Office in November of 2010. In her role as Director of Employer Outreach, she meets with alumni and employers to build relationships that will result in increased job opportunities for students and recent graduates. In addition, she is involved with the recruiting programs, and counsels Intellectual Property students with science and engineering backgrounds. Before joining GW Law, Katie was Chief Attorney Recruiting Officer at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Prior to joining Akin Gump, she worked in attorney recruiting and professional development at Dickstein Shapiro LLP, Morgan, Lewis LLP, Swidler Berlin LLP, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, and Covington & Burling LLP. She has prior law school career services experience as the Director of Career Services at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in Los Angeles. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota.
