Jeannine Gomez joined Wilkes Legal, LLC, as a Senior Family Law Attorney in 2021 to help the firm launch and grow its family law practice.

From 2011 to 2019, Ms. Gomez was a staff and senior staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of D.C. in the Domestic Violence and Family Law Unit where she represented or advised over a thousand clients in civil protection order and custody matters including complex cases involving sexual abuse, expert witnesses, guardians ad litem, and child witnesses. At Legal Aid, Ayuda (2009-11), KIND (Kids in Need of Defense), (2020-21), and at Wilkes Legal, Jeannine has also represented and advised clients in asylum, special immigrant juvenile, VAWA, U-visa, and adjustment of status cases.

Immediately after law school, from 2007 to 2009, Ms. Gomez served as a law clerk in the Family Court of the District of Columbia Superior Court for Judge J. Michael Ryan, on the domestic relations and juvenile calendars, and for Magistrate Judges Mary Grace Rook and Janet Albert, on abuse and neglect calendars.

She received her JD in 2007, magna cum laude, from the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), David A. Clarke School of Law. Ms. Gomez received two merit scholarships, including a Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Scholarship. Upon graduation, she was recognized with the Dean’s Fellow Award (top 10% of graduating class) and a Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Student Award.

Ms. Gomez is thrilled to be co-teaching the Family Justice Litigation Clinic with Dean and Professor Laurie Kohn and Friedman Fellow Daniel F. Bouquet.
