William H. Shawn is an attorney/partner in the Washington office of ShawnCoulson, LLP, a member of the ShawnCoulson international alliance of law firms with offices in Washington, Brussels, and London, where he is the co-managing partner, and represents a broad variety of international and national corporate, governmental, lobbying, law firm, and trade association clients in litigation and commercial matters throughout the U.S.

He has tried over 100 bench and jury trials and arbitrations in Federal and state courts and agencies throughout the United States, and has prepared and argued hundreds of procedural and dispositive issues, including professional ethics, sanctions, and discovery issues before Federal and state courts, a number of which are reported in published opinions. Mr. Shawn has acted as principal counsel in numerous multinational commercial transactions involving Canadian, European, and Asian interests in the United States.

Mr. Shawn is a past participant in the Federal Government’s Attorney Honors Program, and holds the “AV Preeminent” peer rating by Martindale Hubble, and was named a “2013 Top Rated Lawyer in International Law & International Trade” by American Lawyer Media and Martindale Hubbell. He is also a past president of Euro-Link, one of the world’s largest international networks of independent law firms, is a member of the George Washington University Law School’s Board of Advisors, and was named a Distinguished Alumnus of George Washington University Law School.

Mr. Shawn’s bar memberships include the District of Columbia, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals-Third, Fifth, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, Federal, and District of Columbia Circuits.
