William H. Painter

Theodore Rinehart Professor Emeritus of Business Law
William H. Painter jointed the law faculty in 1987 as the occupant of the prestigious Theodore Rinehart Chair in Business Law. He received his bachelor's degree from Princeton and his law degree from Harvard.
For many years before joining the GW Law faculty, Professor Painter was considered one of the nation's leading scholars in the corporate law field. His many books and articles are widely used and highly respected. He taught some of the most sophisticated courses that the law school offered, such as Securities Regulation, Corporate Taxation, Business Planning, and Business Organizations.
