"Tipping the Scales," a news website devoted to the coverage of law schools, named two GW Law 3Ls to its list of "The Top Law Students From The Class of 2016." Dane Shikman and Julia Haigney both made the list on the strength of their academics, extracurricular activities, and contributions to the GW Law community.

Mr. Shikman knew he wanted to go to law school from a young age when he heard his father, a criminal defense lawyer, talk about cases during car rides. In his time at GW, Mr. Shikman served as Editor-in-Chief of The George Washington Law Review, won the National Moot Court Competition, and served as a Dean's Fellow, among other activities. After graduation he will clerk in Denver for Judge David M. Ebel of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. Haigney came to law school to hone her advocacy skills after working for the GW Office of Student Engagement, where she taught students how to be advocates for themselves. She served as Senior Notes Editor for The George Washington Law Review, reached the finals of the Van Vleck Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, and served as a Dean's Fellow, among other activities. After graduation, she will clerk for Judge Kenneth Francis Ripple of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
