The Manuel F. Cohen Memorial Lecture

The Manuel F. Cohen Memorial Lectureship was created by the friends and colleagues of Manny Cohen and established at the Law School in 1979. This endowed lecture serves as a living memorial to Cohen, a leader in the field of securities law, a dedicated public servant, former chairman of the SEC, a legal scholar, and a professor at the Law School for nearly two decades.

The memorial lectures have been presented by notable figures including: the late John Bogle, founder of Vanguard; former Senator Bill Bradley; the late Antonin Scalia, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court; columnist George F. Will; Mary Schapiro, CEO of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority; David Gergen, editor-at-large of U.S. News & World Report; Donna Shalala, former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; former Senator Paul Sarbanes; John W. Snow, former Secretary of the Treasury; Harvey L. Pitt, former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission; and David M. Rubenstein, co-founder and managing director of The Carlyle Group.
