Dean's Advisory Council

The Dean's Advisory Council is comprised of alumni and accomplished legal professionals who provide the Dean with expert advice on a variety of issues. Serving on the Council provides intimate access to the Dean and all of the valuable resources that GW Law has to offer.

Specialized Councils

 

Business & Finance Law Advisory Council

A think tank that addresses major issues in the economic and financial arena in the U.S. and around the world, this council fuses the study of corporate law and finance, securities regulation, banking law, bankruptcy law, market regulation, central banking, commercial law, comparative economic and financial law, international business law, and accounting.

 

Clinical Law Advisory Council

The Clinical Law Advisory Council (CLAC) supports the Clinical Program in its efforts to innovate and grow over the next 50 years and beyond. The CLAC Provides insight to support the Clinical Programs' strategic growth, with the aim of providing the best possible experiential education for GW Law students and the most substantial impact on the DC community.

 

Energy Law Advisory Council

This council supports the Environmental and Energy Law Program. Members provide the Dean and program staff unique insight into the practical world of energy production, policy, business markets, and law.

 

 

Government Contracts Advisory Council

This council allows the Government Procurement Law Program to draw upon the support, advice, and expertise of a wide range of leaders from throughout the public procurement and acquisition field.

 

Intellectual Property & Technology Law Advisory Council

This council provides support to ensure the Intellectual Property Law Program's preeminence in all areas, including curriculum, research, extracurricular activities, career development, and alumni relations. Its members are leading attorneys, judges, and government officials in the field of intellectual property law.

 

Public Interest Advisory Council

The GW Law Public Interest Advisory Council (PIAC) is the primary advisory body to the Law School’s Public Interest/Public Service program. It is a diverse group which advises the Dean, the Public Interest Program Director, and the Faculty Director, to assist the faculty and staff in assuring that the Law School prepares students for careers in the nonprofit and government sectors. Membership on the Council is drawn from private practice, corporate practice, government practice, nonprofit organizations, and the judiciary. It reflects diversity in age, gender, race, and ethnicity.
