Alan J. Lo Re is a Senior Associate Director in the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at the Public Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), which was established in 2002 under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to oversee the audits of public companies and SEC-registered brokers and dealers. He supervises a team of lawyers and accountants engaged in bi-lateral and multi-lateral interactions on behalf of the PCAOB with regulators around the globe and advises the Board on international matters. Mr. Lo Re was part of the PCAOB team that brokered an agreement with Chinese authorities to provide the PCAOB with unobstructed access to inspect and investigate China-based auditors registered with the PCAOB. Mr. Lo Re previously served as an Associate Director in the PCAOB’s Division of Enforcement and Investigations (DEI) where he investigated, litigated and supervised matters involving public auditor misconduct in the United States and abroad.
Mr. Lo Re joined the PCAOB in 2011, after 16 years at the Department of Justice Civil Division where he was an Assist Director and litigated and supervised complex contract claims involving the Federal Government, including some of the largest contract claims ever brought against the United States.
Mr. Lo Re has been an adjunct professor at GW Law School since 2005, where he has taught Legal Research and Writing, Government Lawyering, and Pretrial Advocacy.
