Upon graduating from GW Law School, where Bobby Burchfield was Editor-in-Chief of the GW Law Review, Mr. Burchfield clerked for Judge Ruggero J. Aldisert of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. After clerking, he was in private practice for 40 years, as a partner in three Am Law 50 law firms. Mr. Burchfield was a courtroom lawyer, trying cases before judges and juries and arguing appeals throughout the United States, including two arguments in important First Amendment cases before the Supreme Court of the United States. While practicing, he was listed in Best Lawyers in America for over 20 years, was highly ranked by Chambers Partners and Benchmark Litigation, and received Alumni Awards from the George Washington University, the George Washington Law School, and Wake Forest University. Mr. Burchfield served as General Counsel to President George H.W. Bush’s re-election campaign in 1992, by Presidential appointment to the Antitrust Modernization Commission from 2005 to 2007, and as Ethics Advisor to President Donald J. Trump’s businesses from 2017 to 2021. He serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board of GW Law, on the Wake Forest University Board of Trustees, on the Executive Board of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and as Chairman of two super-PACs.
