Careers in Animal Law

Please join the ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) and GW SALDF for an informative program to help you launch your legal career. Our panel of legal experts will explain their experiences in the field of animal law and will share their secrets of career success. Additionally, this program presents a valuable networking opportunity to chat with animal law practitioners.

Refreshments will be served. This event qualifies as a GW Foundations of Practice networking event.


Panel

Howard Crystal, Esq.: Senior Attorney, Center for Biological Diversity, who works on climate and energy issues with the Climate Law Institute. He has spent his career in private and public-interest practice litigating environmental and wildlife-protection, public-health, safe-energy and open-government cases.

Heidi Meinzer, Esq.: Law Office of Heidi Meinzer, who represents owners and their dogs facing dangerous dog proceedings, counsels new and existing pet care companies with contract and other corporate matters, and advises rescues about issues concerning their adoption contracts and confidential and proprietary information.

Nancy Perry, Esq.:  Sr. Vice-President of Government Relations, ASPCA, who oversees legislative efforts and policy work at the local, state and federal levels. She has testified in Congressional hearings and helped pass laws on animal crush videos, fur, puppy imports, animal fighting, and horse slaughter and has been a key architect and leader on more than 20 successful state ballot measures.
