Giovanna E. Gismondi is the Visiting Associate Professor and Fellow for the Environmental Law Program.

Professor Gismondi teaches and writes in the areas of environmental law, international environmental law, international human rights law, and international dispute resolution. Her latest book, International Environmental Law, and International Human Rights Law in Investment Treaty Arbitration (Wolters Kluwer, 2023), explores the role of environmental and human rights law in International Investment Law. Professor Gismondi has published articles at the intersection of international environmental law, international indigenous peoples law, and international investment law in the Yale Human Rights & Development Law Journal and Harvard International Law Journal. Before joining George Washington University Law, she taught courses on a variety of international law topics for several years at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and College of International Studies. She holds a Law Degree from Universidad de Lima, a Doctorate in Law (SJD), and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Georgetown University Law Center.
