Jessica L. Wherry returns to the law school as Professorial Lecturer in Law. Ms. Wherry is associate professor of legal research and writing at Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to joining Georgetown’s faculty, she was associate professor of legal research and writing, associate director of the legal research and writing program, and co-director of the scholarly writing program at GW Law. 

Ms. Wherry is a 2005 GW Law graduate. While in law school, she was a dean’s fellow in the Legal Research and Writing Program, the senior managing editor of the Public Contract Law Journal, and a member of the winning team in the 2004 McKenna Long & Aldridge Gilbert A. Cuneo Government Contracts Moot Court Competition. She also received first prize in the 2004 Public Contract Law Journal Writing Competition. Professor Wherry published her note in the Public Contract Law Journal and a paper in State Tax Notes

She spent three years at the Office of the General Counsel, Department of the Navy, as a law clerk and later as assistant counsel. She practiced federal procurement law and federal employment law. In the 2006–07 academic year, Ms. Wherry taught as an adjunct professor in the Law School’s Legal Research and Writing Program. She received the Best Contribution to the Program Award in recognition of her lesson plans and teaching materials. 

Before law school, Ms. Wherry served on active duty in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge as a Cryptologic Technician (Collection) Second Class Petty Officer. Ms. Wherry’s scholarship interests include legal research and writing, law school pedagogy, federal procurement law and policy, and veterans law and policy.
