The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) selected A Legal Miscellanea: The Gazette of the Jacob Burns Law Library as the winner of the 2016 Law Library Publications Award, Nonprint Division. The award was presented in July during the organization's annual meeting in Chicago. The Law Library Publications Award honors achievement in creating in-house library materials that are outstanding in quality and significance.

The online gazette is an eclectic mix of law book and legal history-related articles, with a focus on the Law Library’s Special Collections and its rare books. From an in-depth look at rare legal texts and interviews with legal history "celebrities," to book reviews and historical analysis, A Legal Miscellanea covers a lot of legal ground.

Before moving online, A Legal Miscellanea won other top awards from AALL in both 2011 and 2008. After its tenth anniversary in 2015, the gazette transformed from a print publication to a digital one. Jennie C. Meade, editor of A Legal Miscellanea, expressed appreciation, saying “The Jacob Burns Law Library is honored by the selection of A Legal Miscellanea for this prestigious award. We have ventured into new territory, and our contributors are delighted with the result.”
