Melissa Colangelo is the Appellate Project Manager at Children’s Law Center. She handles and supervises appeals arising in a variety of family law proceedings. Ms. Colangelo works on all matters in which Children’s Law Center presents its views as a friend of the court, and is the leader for the organization’s appellate strategy on systemic issues. 

In addition, she teams with trial attorneys to develop legal theories for complex litigations.

Ms. Colangelo is also an adjunct professor at George Washington University Law School, where she teaches co-requisite courses for students involved in externships, and appellate advocacy skills by coaching students competing in national moot court competitions. 

Prior to joining Children’s Law Center in 2011, she was a litigation associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP and clerked for the Honorable John R. Fisher of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
