Michael St. Patrick Baxter is a partner of Covington & Burling LLP, where he specializes in bankruptcy law and corporate restructuring. He has been involved in many of the most prominent bankruptcy cases, including General Motors, Chrysler, Trump Entertainment Resorts, Owens Corning, and US Airways. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers In America, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers For Business, The International Who's Who of Insolvency And Restructuring Lawyers and Washington DC Superlawyers.
Mr. Baxter is a member of The American Law Institute, a Conferee of the National Bankruptcy Conference and a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. He has published extensively in the bankruptcy area, and is a contributing editor of Norton Bankruptcy Law and Practice 3D.
Mr. Baxter was appointed by the Chief Justice of the United States to serve on the U.S. Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules. In 2009, he was awarded GW’s Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award.
