NINE: Portraits of Women in the Law

Mon, 15 March, 2021 4:35pm

Join the GW Law Association for Women for a virtual art exhibit, not only to honor the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but also to create places and spaces for women to be seen, celebrated, and honored at GW Law and in the legal profession at large.

L.A.W. will send nine emails to virtual attendees over the course of nine days honoring a prior GW Law alumna with her portrait (created by GW Law students) and brief bio. Five women will be featured the week of March 15th and four women will be featured the following week, concluding on March 25th.

Each person who registers will receive a brochure and small gift to their physical mailing address as a token for participating in the event, if they so choose.

There will be a virtual opening reception with a keynote address by Dean Dayna Bowen Matthew, the first woman Dean of GW Law, as well as opportunities to virtually attend roundtable conversations with guest speakers, and small group discussions with peers throughout the nine-day event.

Several small pieces of artwork by Carina Tenaglia, a local woman-identifying artist, will be available for auction throughout the nine-day event. Winners will be asked to donate the amount to a D.C. nonprofit of their choice that offers support to domestic violence survivors.

We will also be offering discount opportunities from various women-owned businesses in D.C.
