Ryan K.J. Dickey is a Director and Assistant General Counsel for Cyber with Capital One. Before joining Capital One, Mr. Dickey served for more than a decade as Senior Counsel with the Criminal Division’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section and for nearly four years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Cybercrime Unit of the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
During his service with the Department of Justice, Mr. Dickey was recognized for contributing to significant botnet disruptions, including the 2023 Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service, the 2021 Attorney General’s David Margolis Award for Exceptional Service—the Department’s highest award—and the 2021 Europol Excellence Award in Innovation. He also received the 2019 Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service for prosecuting the administrators of a malware counter-antivirus service; the 2018 Anti-Defamation League’s SHIELD Award for prosecuting a swatter who threatened a minority community; the 2018 Attorney General’s John Marshall Award for civil forfeiture contributions; and the 2018 Int’l Association of Chiefs of Police’s Excellence in Criminal Investigations Award for a child exploitation prosecution.
He previously worked in private practice and clerked for the U.S. District Court in Honolulu, Hawaii.
