Kia Grant-Smith is Senior Counsel in the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement, where she investigates potential violations of the federal securities laws. In that capacity, she has brought actions involving disclosure violations, accounting fraud, and failure to meet broker registration requirements.
Prior to joining the SEC, Mrs. Grant-Smith was an attorney in private practice where she managed complex civil litigation matters and led internal investigations concerning alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the Federal Food Drug & Cosmetic Act, and healthcare fraud statutes. She also represented clients in interviews and testimony with the SEC and Department of Justice.
Mrs. Grant-Smith graduated with Honors from the George Washington University Law School, where she was a member of the International Law Review, a GW Writing Fellow, and recipient of a Presidential Merit Scholarship. She also attended The Ohio State University, graduating magna cum laude and with honors, with dual degrees in Spanish and Communication.
