Waseem Moorad

Waseem Moorad is the Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Clinic at the George Washington University Law School, where he teaches the clinic seminar and supervises students representing clients in matters involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Drawing on his experience as an engineer, attorney, and entrepreneur, Professor Moorad teaches students to approach legal matters from practical and business-oriented perspectives and to guide clients strategically through the various stages of the intellectual property protection process.

Before joining GW Law, Professor Moorad helped establish the Intellectual Property Law Clinic at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where he served as its inaugural director for three years. He previously directed the Detkin Intellectual Property and Technology Legal Clinic at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Professor Moorad also served for 15 years at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. During his tenure, he worked as a Primary Patent Examiner in the electrical and computer arts and as a Supervisory Patent Examiner in the mechanical and petroleum technologies.

Outside of teaching, Professor Moorad is the co-founder and senior partner of Kondori & Moorad, LLP, a Fairfax, Virginia-based law firm specializing in estate planning, elder law, and probate administration, and one of the largest organizations providing professional fiduciary services in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He serves on the planning committee of the National Guardianship Association and was an invited speaker at the 2026 World Congress on Adult Capacity in Amsterdam. In addition to constructing a successful legal practice, Professor Moorad has been an active entrepreneur for more than two decades and has established multiple commercial enterprises in the real estate, sports, and oil & gas industries.

Professor Moorad earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from George Mason University and his law degree from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He is also a registered patent attorney authorized to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
