Taylor Kilpatrick

Taylor Kilpatrick is the International and Comparative Law Fellow and Visiting Associate Professor of Law.

Prior to joining the law school, Professor Kilpatrick was the Director of Programs at the American Society of International Law. There, she oversaw the Society’s Education and Research Department, including major conferences, educational programming, engagement with international organizations, and professional development. She managed the Society’s mentoring and career development programs, including traveling across the country to conduct career trainings for law students and career counselors.

Prior to Professor Kilpatrick’s work with the Society, she served as Court Counsel to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Palau. Much of her work with the Court centered on indigenous land rights and the intersection of Palauan custom and legal precedent. She also revised the Rules of Evidence and Criminal Procedure for the Republic of Palau.

In her time at the George Washington University Law School, Professor Kilpatrick served as the Research Assistant for Professors Sean D. Murphy and Edward T. Swaine during the drafting and editing of their treatise, The Law of U.S. Foreign Relations. She also served as a Legal Extern in the State Department’s Office of the Assistant Legal Adviser for International Claims and Investment Disputes, where her work focused on the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal, and ISDS. Prior to attending law school, Professor Kilpatrick worked as a field organizer on local and national political campaigns, in public policy at Dēmos, a non-profit dedicated to building an inclusive, multiracial democracy and economy, and in program management at several small international development NGOs, including The Women’s Bakery and Via International.

She is also a contributing expert for the Republic of Palau to the World Bank’s “Women, Business and the Law” Report since 2025, as well as an active notary public.
