National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) awarded the 2018 Kenneth West Lifetime Achievement Award to Lawrence A. Cunningham, Henry St. George Tucker II Research Professor of Law. The Kenneth West Lifetime Achievement Award honors a leader who exemplifies the principles of director professionalism: integrity, mature confidence, informed judgment, and high-performance standards. Professor Cunningham was presented with the award at the NACD Directorship 100 Gala on November 28, 2018 in New York City.

During the event, NACD showed a video montage of luminaries and fellow leaders commenting on Professor Cunningham’s achievements, including Frederick Lawrence, former GW Law Dean; Cyndi Glassman, GW Law & Business Dean’s Advisory Board Member; and Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway.

In his remarks, Professor Cunningham gave thanks to GW students and colleagues including Blake D. Morant, Dean and Robert Kramer Research Professor of Law; and Roger A. Fairfax Jr., Jeffrey and Martha Kohn Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research Professor of Law. “I am honored and humbled to receive the lifetime achievement award,” he said.

Among the honorees was GW alumnus, John P. Fletcher, JD ’68, NACD Director of the Year. NACD Directorship magazine features profiles of leaders in its November/December 2018 issue.
