Roderick R. McKelvie served as a judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware from 1992-2002. Thereafter, he was a partner at Covington & Burling practicing in intellectual property and commercial litigation. Judge McKelvie has handled cases at the trial and appellate level. During his 10 years on the bench, he presided over 100 trials, including over 30 patent infringement trials. Judge McKelvie  has written and spoken extensively on issues relating to intellectual property litigation, and trial management, and has a particular interest in how we educate and persuade juries in intellectual property litigation. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge McKelvie practiced law as a commercial litigator. Before that, he was a law clerk to Judge Caleb R. Layton III, a judge on the District Court for the District of Delaware.
