April 16, 2019

Scott Greenstein

Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer of SiriusXM and a graduate of GW Law’s Class of 1984, will deliver the keynote address at the Law School Diploma Ceremony on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

One of the driving forces behind SiriusXM’s rapid expansion into the world’s largest audio entertainment company, Mr. Greenstein has introduced myriad innovations and pioneering audio formats since joining the company in 2004. Among the highlights of his tenure are the creation of Doctor Radio, a groundbreaking health and wellness format powered by the NYU Langone Health Center, and Business Radio powered by The Wharton School, a new form of business talk radio. Despite a polarizing political environment, Mr. Greenstein established SiriusXM as the only place in radio where conservative, progressive, and non-partisan viewpoints are represented by full-time talk channels. Under him, SiriusXM has also introduced new music formats for radio, such as classic hip hop, electronic dance music, and the first ever and critically-acclaimed channel devoted to the music and legacy of The Beatles. Mr. Greenstein engineered the signing and renewal of key agreements with the National Football League, Major League Baseball, NASCAR, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, and Premier League soccer. He is also credited with recruiting popular radio show host Howard Stern to SiriusXM. In his tenure, Mr. Greenstein served as the driving force behind the rise of SiriusXM’s paid subscriber count to more than 34 million. Following SiriusXM’s recent acquisition of Pandora, the largest U.S. music streaming service, Greenstein now leads efforts to create exciting new content for both SiriusXM and Pandora listeners, which together number more than 100 million.

Prior to joining SiriusXM, he was a leading executive in the film industry. As chairman of USA Films, he oversaw the release of a number of acclaimed movies including "Traffic," "Being John Malkovich," and "Gosford Park." Earlier in his career, he served as co-President of October Films, overseeing the release of films such as "The Apostle" and "The Last Days."

Announcing Mr. Greenstein's address, Dean Blake D. Morant said, "Insightful, creative, savvy, and candid, he embodies the totality of talent that distinguishes a GW Law graduate. I am delighted that he will join us in celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2019."
