The State of the World According to Millennials: A Town Hall with the ICRC

Tue, 28 January, 2020 5:00pm

Join the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), together with the Millennial Action Project (MAP) and the Graduate and International Programs at GW Law for a discussion and Q&A centered around a recent global survey conducted by the ICRC, documenting the opinion of a diverse group of millennials' views on war. The survey canvassed the views of 16,000 millennials in 16 different countries around the world, both those in peacetime and those experiencing active conflict. “Millennials on War” documents millennial opinions about war, the Law of Armed Conflict, and the most pressing issues of their generation, from terrorism and climate change, to corruption and unemployment.

The media and older generations often stereotype millennials as self-serving and distracted. “Millennials on War” paints a picture of them as deeply caring, solutions-oriented individuals who are concerned about – and committed to solving – the pressing socioeconomic and geopolitical issues that they are poised to inherit.

The evening will include a discussion and audience Q&A on the state of the world, including recent events in the Middle East, and live polling on a number of topics that millennials have top-of-mind.
