Andrea “Dre” Dargin, Class of 2020, was elected to serve as the 50th National Chair of the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA). NBLSA is a national organization formed to articulate and promote the needs and goals of black law students to effectuate change in the legal community. It is also one of the largest student-run organizations in the United States.
While at GW Law, Ms. Dargin has served as the 2018-2019 Mid-Atlantic Regional Chairwoman, 2017–2018 Mid-Atlantic Regional Director of Career and Professional Development, and the Employment Chair for GW Law’s Black Law Students Association.
During her tenure as National Chair, Ms. Dargin hopes to deepen member engagement and presence within the legal community to bolster the strength of the NBLSA network, foster cross-functional collaboration throughout the organization to encourage a more unified approach, and employ the use of innovative technology to promote transparency and accountability.
“The National Black Law Students Association is an integral part of my law school experience, and I am humbled to have the privilege to lead this organization. As the National Chair, I serve as the chief executive officer, and it is incumbent upon me to set a strategic direction for the Association that is in furtherance of the mission. I am deeply passionate about increasing the presence of black and minority law students and excited to work on promoting diversity within the legal field because representation is paramount.”
