Dean Blake D. Morant speaks at the 2016 AALS Annual Conference in early 2016.

New law school faculty members are beginning their careers at a time of major change in legal education. To help guide them during this tumultuous period, several members of the GW Law community are presenting at a "Workshop for New Law School Teachers" hosted by the Association of American Law Schools.

In the plenary session "The New World of Legal Academia: Planning for the Future," Dean Blake D. Morant will prompt new educators to set long-term objectives that account for changes in the field. Along with deans from Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Utah, he will draw on his years of experience in the field to discuss differences and similarities at various institutional homes.

At another session on "Distributing Your Ideas," Naomi R. Cahn, Harold H. Greene Professor of Law, and Elizabeth Field, Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing, will offer strategies for new law professors to build and manage relationships with students, staff, faculty, media, university officials, community members, alumni, and other practicing lawyers and judges.

By sharing their expertise at this workshop, these diverse members of the GW Law community—representatives of the administration, faculty, and staff—are working outside our walls to advance the legal academy.
