Richard A. Sterba is the managing principal of the Washington, DC office of Fish & Richardson P.C. Experienced in all phases of litigation, Mr. Sterba’s specialty is handling and trying cases at the International Trade Commission, having worked on over 50 Section 337 investigations, including more than fifteen trials. He has received several accolades for his ITC trial experience, including recognition as a Law360 International Trade Rising Star and as a Washington, D.C., Super Lawyer, as well as inclusion on the IAM Patent 100 and Legal 500 lists for his impressive ITC experience and track record.
Beyond his trial work, he also has successfully argued at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Sterba regularly lectures and writes on Section 337 practice at the ITC and is a Professorial Lecturer in Law at GW Law, teaching a course dedicated to that practice.
Beyond his work at Fish, Mr. Sterba is active in the American Inns of Court. He has served as an Inn president of both the Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court, the largest and oldest intellectual property Inn of Court in the U.S., and the Pauline Newman IP American Inn of Court, which he helped to create. Mr. Sterba is also admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
